I would like my source titles to follow my standard format:
I can only find {date} and {place} in the template dialog which won't reproduce my preferred layout, which I can achieve using AS.
Is there a method I have missed in FH7 - other than manual amendment?

Re: Record Title Format in Source Definition Template
Yes there is.
On the Tools menu, select Source Template Definitions. Then select the Source Template you want to edit and press the View/Edit Button. You can then amend the Record Title Format to suit your needs, using the <<Add button to copy any fields in you want to use. Press Save when you are done
In the list you will probably see the word 'mod' in the Used column. This says that the Template Definition here and in the project are now different.
So, you need to apply that change to the Template in your project. To do this press the Compare/Sync button. Select the field(s) with a red x next to them and then press View/Sync and either sync left or right depending on which one has the definition that you want.
However, there is still another step you need to follow. The titles on your existing sources won't be updated to reflect your changes until you edit them. So you need to go into each one and amend it (then amend it back if you want) for the change to show. That bit is a real pain and if anyone knows a way of doing this en masse I'd also be grateful to know

Re: Record Title Format in Source Definition Template
Thank you Kevin for your reply.
What I am looking for is the ability to construct the Source title in the format I want -
in AS one can use the following {YEAR}{DATE.MONTH.NUM2}{DATE.DAY2} Census @ {PLACE} {PLACE.SHORT}: {REF} - {KEYPERSON.GN} {KEYPERSON.SN.CAPS} this gets near to what I want.
The Source Template editing process does not provide, so far as I can see, the ability to split {Date} or {Location} which means I cannot set up the template to do what I want which I can almost do with AS

Re: Record Title Format in Source Definition Template
I have just realised I can create new field definitions so to get a source title starting with yyyymmdd I need to create
three new fields
{year} as a date
{month} as an enum (cannot treat as date as will give errors and will get 0001 if entering 01)
{day} as an enum (ditto)
then use the expression <{year}{month}{day}> which will give me a date eg 20210101 - the angle brackets supress blanks between fields.
Is this documented anywhere?
