2 Source Template definition questions, FH7

I'm using FH7 coming from RootsMagic.
1. My source template definition is:
Personal knowledge of {Person}, {Location}, {Date}<; {Comment}>.
There is no space between {Date} and <; {Comment)>.
Yet in the citation there is a space after 1986 and the semicolon:
3 May 1986 ; Jackie resided with
Am confused or is this a bug?
2.I understand that the source definitions are in a different database than my project definitions. I clone all my source definitions before I make them so I can edit them. Once I'm happy I add it to my project. Then I find something I need to change. I can change it in the external source definitions database. But is there somewhere in the project database where I can make that edit as well? Or do I have to remove all the citations to that source and start over again? For example, the definition above. If someone tells me how to fix the extra space I don't want to have to remove all the citations that use it. I'd like to be able to make one edit and have them reflected in the citations. It works that way in Rootsmagic, so I'm hoping it does here too.
Thank you, these forums are a wonderful help.

Under Tools > Source Template Definitions, have you found Compare/Sync with Source Template Record...?
However, any changes you make to a Source Template Record will NOT be reflected in any sources already created using that Source Template.
Re the punctuation, I see the same thing (a space after the semi-colon). I suspect it's because it's normal usage to put a space after punctuation except in certain limited circumstances. You could raise a bug report with Calico Pie at
http://support.calico-pie.com/open.php if you wish, although it would really annoy me if the space wasn't there. We're all different!

Helen, I think the OP is saying there is an extra space after the date but before the semicolon, as in "3 May 1986 ; Jackie resided with". That does seem wrong.

Yes, space before the semicolon seems odd!
Also, not being able to retrospectively correct Sources when Templates change is a recurring topic.

I can't get that space before the semi-colon even if I enter it in the template definition.

After I run an errand I'll delete it and see what happens a second time. Thank you.

Yes, that is the space that bothers me.

I have seen compare/sync but haven't looked into it. I will.

I do like Compare/Sync.
I wonder if my "space semi-colon" problem is a bug. As a test, I made a clone of Documents: Digitized from the Advanced templates. The only change I made was the addition of angle brackets as shown below. Still have the space problem. And looking in EE, there shouldn't be a space.
{Page}<; {Credit_Line}>. results in
p. 15 ; citing records blah blah blah
Be interesting to see if anyone can duplicate it. If not, maybe there is something unique/weird with my computer. Although I can't imagine what would cause that. Win 10, reimaged fairly recently.

FH7 support got me an answer to the semi colon question. Just adding it here in case anyone else ever wonders.
"The handling of source template formats is explained in the topic "Source Template Formats" in the Help (look for it in the Help Index). The part that covers what you're seeing is described in the section "Special-Handling for Top-Level Text" and especially the part that begins "There is also special-handling of spaces in top-level text...". This explains why we have adopted the policy of spacing top-level components automatically. It also explains the solution which is to put the whole thing inside angle brackets (nested angle bracket expressions are supported for source templates)."
So I want {Person}, {Location}, <{Date}<; {Comment}>>. with extra angle brackets.
