Can I stop these new Source etc pop-ups?
I use FH for a One-Name Study, and am finding the new Sources pop-up box in particular an annoyance whenever I attach one of my existing source records to a person. I am currently going through the 1939 National Registration for thousands of records.
Is there a hidden check box somewhere I can turn it off, or am I condemned to regret buying this upgrade and having to do all these extra clicks to get rid of the darned things?

Re: Can I stop these new Source etc pop-ups?
I too was going crazy with it.
However I too go through censuses and lists. I decided I coudnt let version 7 delay my work so I ploughed straight on.
I still keep my source pane in a horizontal row to the right of the property box.
I had an existing source for the particular census and gave it a working title, I enter it as source for the first record I enter, open the automatic source bar at the top, and then copy and paste the source into the automatic source panel. You can switch the automatic part off and on with the left button.
I put the whole census address and place into the Place field in the Census fact.
I then copy and past it into the text from Source field in the citation. At least this is what I did in Version 6. And for the time being I am doing the same in fh7.
It doesnt matter which field it is in in the citation. I use it only with the fh search function. Entering the street address or house number means one can search for and find a list of everyone in that household, even when the surnames are difference, e.g. inmates in an orphanage or boarders in a hotel.
I agree it is an extra click to close that citation box.
I too have considered reverting to version 6.
It is interesting that you are doing a one name study. Reviews showed that fh was the best software for similar big projects and it seems to me that fh7 has lost that advantage in trying to cater for more conventional genealogists.

One thing that might work for both of you is (seemingly perversely) leaving the Citation pop-up window OPEN and reducing its size to as little as possible (just the box title line) and positioning that right at the bottom of the screen. Because it's already open, it won't pop up again as you move between sources.

Re: Can I stop these new Source etc pop-ups?
Is there a Time Out on this site. I wrote a long reply and it vanished.
The gist is that one cant enter new data in a miniaturised pane. So I am doing as you suggested but leaving it open in usable size.
I need to enter data (street address) for every citation. Copied and pasted from the place field in the census event.
I put the pane (allow it to reside there) in usable size positioned over the source entry pane to the right of my Property Box. But positioned so as not to conceal the square buttons for copy, paste etc at the bottom of the source entry pane.

Re: Can I stop these new Source etc pop-ups?
Thanks for all that.
I think I'll go with - shove it minimised into an unused corner and don't keep closing it. I've already put the record source bit back on the right where it belongs!
All the details of the source go into the notes box, the primary source information for me is far more generic - National Registration 29 Sept 1939 National Archives (via FMP or Ancestry )etc. With so many individuals it's far easier to use the individual record note for the actual RG101 reference.
And for the NR - it's three fields per person sourced from it - Date of birth, occupation and residence.
200 down, 3500 or so to go...

Re: Can I stop these new Source etc pop-ups?
I don't like floating windows at all, so I have always worked with the Property Box docked, and I have always had the 'Sources for' pane at the bottom, not on the right! This makes the whole Property box narrower so that it intrudes less on the rest of the screen. However with the advent of the Citation window I have had to re-think. I close the panel on the right of the Citation window (it's only needed when you want to look at the format of a footnote or bibliography). Then I resize the Citation window so that it is the same height as the docked Propery Box, but fairly narrow. I don't have FH on full screen but set it to almost the full height of the screen and leave a gap to the right hand side. The Citation window then sits in this gap, just to the right of the docked Property Box. In effect, it is now in the position where the old 'Source for' pane would have been if I had it to the right rather than below the Property Box.

Thank you for that share.
This is what my workspace looks like - I find it quite efficient.

Whilst we may disagree on the ideal screen layout, everyone having their own preferences I feel I ought to comment on your 1939 register entry, as you seem to be ignoring the address, something you may come to regret in the future.
Personally I like to see if the address has any significance. Was it a parent or grandparent’s address, or was it the same address they occupied in 1911.

I don't ignore them, I just hadn't filled it in when I took the screen shot. Sometimes the NR 'town UD or RD' is far broader than the actual location - especially when comparing with Electoral Rolls - and needs checking. Plus urban borders change over time.
