Duplicated Family
I have just noticed that I have a duplicated family. (Father, mother and 10 children and their families.).
The odd thing is that they all have exactly the same record id's. I cannot therefore just delete or unlink them.
Is there somewhere that I have overlooked for removing duplicate families?

Re: Duplicated Family
That problem keeps happening recently, so see this thread for solution of Edit > Merge/Compare Records for family records.

Re: Duplicated Family
Correcting Duplicate Spouses/Families (video) should help.

Mike & Colne Valley Girl.
Many thanks - I could not use merge as they have the same id's.
What did help was removing the additional family record id created incorrectly.
Thank you.

Re: Duplicated Family
In that case, you COULD use Merge/Compare Record.
If you read carefully, the advice is about merging Family Records NOT Individual Records, which as you say have same Rec Id.
In the general case, just deleting a Family Record might discard important details. which is why we rarely advise deletion.

Re: Duplicated Family
I have used merge.
One problem I have found is that the merge does not include children. If one side had a chikd and the other didn't an you merge the two that child is not listed after the erge and I have to locate it to add it to the parents

Re: Duplicated Family
Victor, in that case you have not used the merge process correctly. The point about the merge is that you can review which facts and children from each of the family records are to be retained after the merge.

Re: Duplicated Family
I used the merge correctly
I compared the two and no children were listed on either.
In my case both had children. The one I accepted listed the children after the merge. The one I discarded lost the chid after the merge. This happened more than once. The last time I made a not of the child and added it to the family after the merge
I don't recall having this problem in V6
