A new user coming from TMG here, and I have some questions I am hoping someone can help with. I tried to do a search before posting but nothing really concrete came up, so forgive me if these questions have been asked and answered before. I'm using FH7.

1. How are adoptions handled where only one of the parents are the adoptive parent? I see that I can go and set the "Rel" flag for a child to "a" for adopted, but this seems to affect the relationship for both parents. I have several cases where one parent is the true biological parent for the child and another is the adoptive parent. Is it possible to designate one parent with a different "Rel" flag than another?

2. How are conflicting data handled in FH7? In TMG I would simply make as many copies of a particular event (say a Birth event) as needed, and designate one as primary. Is this the proper way to do it in FH7 as well? I see there are no primary designation, but basically I am just trying to confirm that adding more of the same event or fact or attribute is the recommended way to handle conflicting data in FH7?

3. Is there a way to jump directly to an individual based on their record ID? TMG had a "Go to" button that allowed me to type in someone's record ID and jump directly to that person, say person number 4320. In FH7 it seems like the "Go To" record (Ctrl+G shortcut) simply highlights the current focus person in the list of individuals and I have to from that point search for a particular individual. And when I double click on that person it simply opens up their properties dialog rather than returning me to the Focus window with the focus on the new person. This seems a little inefficient. In short terms; is there a way to jump directly to any particular person if you know that person's record ID?

1. Under Relationship to Parents near the bottom you’ll see More Options. There you can tick Specify relationship to each parent separately.

2. There is no absolute right or wrong way to handle this but in the case of birth or death the usual recommendation is to have only one birth event and one death event for an individual (because they are only born once and die once). If there is conflicting information about the date, you can use a date range which covers all the possibilities, and cite all the sources you have for different dates, with an explanatory note. However if you really want to have multiple birth or death events you can designate one as the Preferred fact, using the fact flags. Search FH Hep files for “How to Flag a Fact as Preferred, Private, Tentative or Rejected” for how these flags can be used.

3. In the Records window, Individuals tab, there are various filters at the top. You can type the Record ID into the appropriate box to jump to that record, then click the magnifying glass icon in the main toolbar or in the Property box toolbar to display the individual in the Focus window.
