Upgrade to V7 - finding my old product key

Post by wellera » 14 Dec 2020 16:35

Hi

I'm on v6.2.7 and want to upgrade to v7 at https://store.family-historian.co.uk/pr ... 7-upgrade/

I must say the page feels somewhat confusing, but eventually I got myself logged in so the store could calculate my V6 discount. It needs my V6 product key, but despite me trying to be careful I can't find my V6 product key from my V5 upgrade!

I do have my V5 upgrade key, though.

Any suggestions on how I can find my v6 product key, please?

Many thanks

Andrew

If you didn't buy a new version of either V5 or V6 (i.e. you started from V4 or before and have only bought updates since then), you're not entitled to a discount, I'm afraid.

I haven't purchased a new version since V2 (always upgraded) and I still got a 30% discount with my V6 Upgrade Licence Key.

Keith, that's surprising... Did it happen automatically.

Yes, it does not matter how you purchased FH v6 you still get a discount, just like you got a discount on upgrades in all the previous major releases.

Assuming you purchased the FH v5 to v6 Upgrade from Calico Pie and you have lost the Email giving the licence key then follow the advice in Family Historian Licence Problems to get CP to resend it. That advice also explains what to do with a CD boxed set.

No. Initially it came up as an invalid licence key so I contacted Calico Pie and the following day, when I tried again, the 30% discount was applied.

However, it did work first time with my V5 Upgrade Licence Key, which automatically offered a 25% discount, so that is why I pursued it with the V6 Upgrade Licence Key..

As far as I am aware, Calico Pie has always offered discounted upgrades for existing users of their product.

Thanks Mike for the quick reply an I'll raise a ticket to find my V6 key.

BTW I tried my v5 upgrade key and it came up with a 20% discount on V7.

If you have Version 6 (either by upgrade or by buying a full licence) you get 30% discount if you have your V6 licence.

You can find your current licence using the instructions here
https://www.family-historian.co.uk/supp ... icence-key

If you still have problems with finding the key or it's not recognised, send the licence (if you found it) and all the purchase details you have to FH support and they will investigate, please make sure to include the email you purchased with if it's changed and you can't find the key.

If you purchased V6 in the last year as a full product (not an upgrade), from Calico direct you will get 100% discount.
If you purchased V6 in the last year as a full product from S&N or My History they will be sending out codes in the near future, so you will need to be patient.

If you are currently on V5 or apply with a V5 key you will get a 20% discount.

I slipped up, my version 6 key was rejected and I carried on and made the purchase without any discount :-(

Oh well, my own fault I suppose!

That CP FH website advice needs to be added to the FHUG KB.

Only as a link -- the KB isn't duplicating anything that's availabe of the FH website.
