Should I ask for a refund or is there another way around this problem?

FH7 Unable to download
Having paid for the upgrade, my desktop pc won't allow me to even download the upgrade so I can't run it! I've noted all the problems according to Calico Pie as to how to overcome running of it but it can't be done? My pc is Win 10 and it runs Edge and I seem to be unable to uninstall that, I only use Windows Defender for anti-everything. I don't use Edge anyway, preferring Chrome or Firefox.

Re: FH7 Unable to download
What browser is trying to perform the download and exactly what does it say to prevent the download.
Does it display a 'More info button' -- click on that and select 'Run Anyway'
Try clicking the ... button at top.

From https://www.family-historian.co.uk/install7
Update: Do not attempt to download the software using Microsoft Edge as it is still being blocked by Microsoft (this is a ‘false positive’ which hopefully will be resolved shortly). Also, if you get any warnings from Windows Defender, please either update your virus definitions or wait until Windows Defender does this automatically, and then repeat the download/install.

Re: FH7 Unable to download
My experience - don't follow CP's instructions to "run" the software - save it, to a local hard drive - again keep away from MS cloud storage. My first attempt to run from drive didn't work. I downloaded and saved it again. Ran the 2nd version and that worked fine. YMMV. Worked for me. Downloaded using Firefox as a browser btw.

Re: FH7 Unable to download
Have to say, I used Microsoft's Chromium Edge and the download worked perfectly (viz. it was not blocked) - I always use Save rather than any Run option.

Re: FH7 Unable to download
I tried Chrome but it wouldn't even let me download the file and Firefox did but wouldn't run it even though I went through the steps to override MS's stops!

Re: FH7 Unable to download
I persevered with Firefox and eventually it allowed the file to be downloaded and I was able to run it successfully.
