Hi there
I have put the wrong children's details under the wrong father and mother ! Is there an easy way of moving the childrens details so they are under the right parents with out having to start again?
Many thanks in advance
Jerry

Go to 'Edit' choose 'Unlink From' and unlink the children then add them to the correct parents using 'Link Existing Record'

Alternatively, open the Focus Window with the parents as the main focus and their children listed below.
Right-click on each Child in turn and choose Unlink Record.
Then get the desired Parents into Focus Window and use Add Child > Link Existing Record below them.
TIP: Make a note of the child Record Id as you unlink them and it makes it easier to find them to relink.

Can I suggest a slightly different approach that I use in these circumstances.
Link the children to the new (correct) parents before unlinking them from the old (incorrect) parents.
It is easy to flip back and fore between the families, your progress is always visible and there is less chance of losing your way.

Agreed. There are all sorts of things where I want to swap linkages (parents in FamilySearch FamilyTree, for instance) and whenever I can I will always add the new linkage in first and only then delete the old one. I simply don't trust myself to write down the old or new Ids of one end or the other - it only requires a moment's inattention and I've transposed two digits and I might be up the thingy without a wotsit...
Lots of people think it through logically - disconnect the old one and then reconnect correctly. Perhaps they even imagine that a child can't be in two places at once. But in most case, of course it can, quite legitimately as well, to cope with adoption, etc.
In FH, I still need to use the Ids to know which Fred Bloggs to connect up, but it's not a disaster if I get the wrong Id as everything is still visible, nothing's yet been lost.
