Create diagram from named list

Hi,
Is it possible to put the people on a named list - and only these people - onto a diagram?
It's something I often want to do - e.g. see on a diagram all those baptised in Village X, or with the same surname but not necessarily related, or all the ladies called Ann etc.
I have looked in the Knowledge Base but can't see anything similar.
Any hints appreciated.

My first reaction is 'NO' that is not possible.
It seems to be fraught with competing complex criteria.
If you select all ladies called Ann, what would happen to their husbands and other immediate relatives?
It is a bit like asking for a Family Group Sheet report for all ladies called Ann.
Can you explain the attraction of having them in a Diagram format if they are mostly unrelated?
What is your motivation and objective?
It sounds more like a job for a Query or perhaps a customised Individual Summary Report.

Hi,
Sorry, perhaps I didn't word it very well re the ladies called Ann. If said ladies had relatives, they would also be required on the diagram.
Why?
Well, I have many small files/projects which I use to work out who's who, who belongs to whom and so on, in order to decide who's "mine". So, which of the many Anns, or Benjamins - what do I know about them all - and it's easier for me to see it on a diagram (dotted lines with question marks, and so on!) Or I might want to see all the Joneses from the file " Jones and Smith", say.
I can do this by doing an "everyone" diagram and then deleting those not required, but it takes a very long time!
Ah well, this never was a hobby for doing things quickly!

Mike, I'll add that it would be very useful for the one-place study I'm doing with somebody else. It would be really useful to have a diagram of all individuals (and their spouses, children and parents) with a fact in Llanfair nant y Gof or Trecwn (the place was renamed in the mid 20th century).

Ah! I understand now, but unfortunately the answer is still 'NO'.
Having edited the Everyone Diagram you could save it as a Family Historian Chart but I realise that a Chart of ladies named Ann would not gain any new Ann that gets added to the Project. However, it would gain new members of the trees in the Chart and any new data added to anyone in the trees.
I can see it would be useful to be able to create an "Everyone in Named List " diagram. Maybe something for the future?

One possible option might be to create a query to find all your Annes or all people containing a place name, then add relatives of anyone in the result set.
You can then mark all the boxes using the query and select and invert the marks and hide selected boxes.
I have not played with it on an everyone diagram, but it is worth a try.

I too had a requirement for a chart from a named list. I was trying to visualize all the families in a locality that I had collected but were currently unconnected (a sort of a mini-one place study / family reconstituion).
So here is what I did:
- Collected the people of interest into a named list
- Exported a Gedcom of the individuals in my named list
- Opened the Gedcom in File - Gedcom File Tasks
- Then viewed the 'Everyone' chart
Does that help anyone else?
