rename media
I have a weird question about media files. I have been try both rootsmagic 7 and Family Historian for a while now trying to get the feel I want. I have decided to stay with Family Historian and this is where my questions is. After switching between these programs I find my media files located in the media folder have super long names now. Example when I first started there would be a media file named Me, after switching back and forth that same file would be changed to 0001 0001 0001 0001 0001Me. Is there a way to rename these files and keep the link to the individual or will I need to delete and re enter all the media files? Thanks for the help

Re: rename media
In switching back and forth have you been using the Export Gedcom File plugin to export to RootsMagic and then exported a GEDCOM from RootsMagic to import back into FH.
When you export that way from FH it creates full and part frames with filenames such as 1O01 Me.jpg and 0O01 Me.jpg where the 2nd character is letter O not digit 0. They follow the round trip to RootsMagic and back and the prefix 0O01 get added again the next time around. They have a space between 0O01 and Me that was omitted in your posting, so is my guesswork wrong?
If you've never created any Link to Face detail Frames in FH then they will always be full frames so no detail is lost.
To adjust the filenames use the Search and Replace plugin to change the Media record File Link entries and it will automatically change the actual Media folder Filenames to match.
The settings are somewhat technical and depend on the filenames having the digits and letter O format described above.
So please confirm that my assumptions are correct and I can post full details of the settings.

Re: rename media
I strongly advise you create a Full Project Backup beforehand in case the file renaming goes wrong.
The settings are not straightforward so here are screenshots.
Set the Search Scope to Multimedia Records (OBJE) only.
On the Extra Filters tab ensure only Multimedia Linked File fields & Media files is ticked.
Enable LUA Pattern Mode and Show White Space options.
Set Search box to %dO%d+ with a trailing space shown as a dot and ensure Replace box is empty.
Click Search & Replace and each change is presented in turn.
When happy it is working correctly, untick Confirm every item found
