I do not seem to able to get more than two flags in a single row on the property window (see attached). Is it possible and is there a trick to this? Any suggestions would be welcome.

Yes, that is correct. The Customize Data Entry... command in its Edit Data Item dialogue only has two Parts.
The Help says:

Each custom item corresponds to a single row in the Property Box. A custom item must have at least one part, and can have two.

Most items need a box of data, so more than two on one row would get congested.
Flags often only need a short label and a tick box, so potentially could fit more than two on one row.
But Flags can have long names and then need so much space that only two would fit on one row.
Anyway, two items per row is the limit.
