Hi All,
I have just been having a look at some of the locations of facts in my tree. I have noticed that many of them are way out and am now wondering if I have done something wrong while inputting locations. Two that stood out for me was that I stayed in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, England just after I was born and when I looked at it in FH6 mapping it was in or around Birmingham and the other was my brothers wedding was in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland and that has been placed in the middle of the Scottish Highlands no where near Alloa. How much information does FH6 Mapping require when inputting a location to get it right? I accept that some places where my relatives stayed in the passed would require old maps and a wing and a prayer to find them but I presumed that Dunstable in Bedfordshire would be easily located. I always add the location as three areas, town, county, country, do I have to add more information or is it a case that I will just have to check all locations individually and change them?

Re: Mapping Locations
I have just now mapped both those Places in FH V6 and they plot perfectly where expected in Dunstable and Alloa.
So what are you doing differently?
Right-click on the fact with the misplotted Place and choose Geocoding > Remove Geocoding and then repeat with Geocoding > Refresh Geocoding. Does that fix it?
Is it possible that those Places have been geocoded earlier before completing the full details.
Once they have a plot location, changing the Place name alone does not force a Refresh Geocode.
If not fixed then maybe we need to see a screenshot of the details, including the Map plot and the actual Place name.

Re: Mapping Locations
Mike,
Thanks, that fixed the problem. I don't know why it did that, as I haven't changed these since importing them from FTM and they are in the correct format. Hey Ho, problem solved so I will just have to wait for FH7 and then I can get started on the redo.
