tree layout generation labels

Post by sailor842 » 03 Sep 2020 20:32

How can I label my generations?
I would like to have the generations numbered. So I know which one I am working on. Something similar to this jpg.

I have moved this to the FH General Usage Forum that is more appropriate.

I guess you mean you want the generations automatically identified.
In the Diagram > Options > General tab select one of the Relationship descriptions: options other than None.
Unfortunately, in Right-left orientation the legends are displayed sideways, but maybe that will do.

You can adjust the character size & style of the legend via the Font... button alongside.

Can a plugin be made to give something like I photoshopped onto my tree?

Sorry. No.
Plugins cannot operate on any standard workspace windows such as Focus, Records, Diagram, Report, Map, etc.
Plugins can only operate on the GEDCOM database and Media files via Plugin dialogue windows.

Maybe it could be considered for a future program update.

Sorry, that is unlikley, as the Plugin functionality is simply not capable of affecting those workspace windows.
