* FH stops at random times with new Windows release

Hi,

I am happily running FH v6.2.7 (except I have to switch off the antivirus program to start FH - see my previous post)

I recently upgraded Windows to the latest release (Windows 10 Home, Version 2004, OS Build 19041.460) & FH stops at random? times (ie FH disappears from the screen, other apps continue working). I reverted to the previous version of Windows (Version 1903, OS Build 18362.1016) & FH runs ok.

I have done this several times with the same result.

Anyone else have the same problem?

I don’t know what my current Windows version is ( I updated a few days ago), but I did experience a sudden shutdown of firefox, FH and file explorer the other day, but assumed I had mistakenly pressed a wrong key combination. I’ll keep an eye open and see if it re-occurs, and report if it happens again.

To discover your Windows 10 version use Start > Settings > System > About and scroll down to Windows specifications.

BTW: I am holding off updating to Window 10 Version 2004 to avoid exactly such problems. I do that for every major feature version upgrade to let other guinea pigs find the bugs.

Miketate, I’m not on my PC, that’s why I didn’t know my windows version

Doesn't help particularly I know, but I am running Windows 10 Home Version 2004 fully patched and use FH most days - I have not seen any occurrences of FH stopping / closing unexpectedly.

I am running same version as Gowermick - (64bit version) and there are no issues.

If your FH is crashing, checkout how_to:family_historian_installation_problems#family_historian_installs_but_won_t_run_properly|> Family Historian Installs But Won't Run Properly as it may be a device driver problem introduced by Windows 10 Version 2004. This is a known recurrent problem with FH.

I am now running OS Build 19041.450, which seems to run ok (fingers crossed). I will post if problems continue.
