Mixed up sources

Is this a glitch or am I not looking in the right place?

I'm working on tidying up sources and citations after importing this tree from FTM. All is going smoothly and making sense but I have just come across something that is confusing me.

Using the Sources index, and View Record Links, I want to make sure that this marriage certificate is linked to the correct facts. In the first box it tells me that there are 2 linked to George Cheeseman, the bride's father.

Image

One is correctly attached to his occupation and the other is apparently attached to his death.

Image

But when I went to his Facts to delete it, I can't see it. Just the correct Source for his death.

Have I completely overlooked something?

That Source is not attached to the Death event.
If it were then it would descend from the Died bullet rather like it descends from the Occupation bullet.
Follow its descender up to see it belongs to the whole record of CHEESEMAN, George just like all the facts, media, etc.

In your last screenshot, at the top of the yellow pane Sources For: box choose <whole record>* and the Source is listed there.

In other words, the Marriage Certificate confirms the existence of that person as a whole.

Thanks, Mike, I see now. Another tick in the learning box :)

In some cases the Marriage Certificate could actually be a Source for his Death event too.
If on the certificate it says the bride's father was deceased, then it would be a Source for his Death event with a Date Range of before the Date of the wedding.

Yes, that was my first thought but not in this case.

I am enjoying this learning curve and appreciate you help when I get stuck. Thanks :)

Following on from this, I may have similar issues. Is there a way that I can list all sources that are attached to whole record so that I can check their validity?

Yes Bob, a simply Query or two will find them all.
In the Query Window use the top right cog Query Menu > New Custom Query option.
Give it a name and leave the type as Individual.
On the Columns tab add an Expression using %INDI.SOUR[1]% to list whole record citations.
On the Rows tab add Exclude if %INDI.SOUR[1]>% is null to exclude Individuals without whole record citations.
In the Result Set double-click any Source cell to open the Property Box showing the citation.

You may need to repeat that with a Family type Query with expressions starting %FAM instead of %INDI

An alternative is to use the Where Used Record Links plugin as follows.
In the Records Window on the Sources tab select every record and run the plugin.
In its Result Set click on the Data Ref Where Used column heading to sort into order.
Scroll down to find entries for FAM.SOUR and INDI.SOUR which are the whole record citations.

Many thanks, Mike. That gives me exactly what I wanted; and has thrown up a number of issues that I now need to investigate.
