When I'm doing data entry and looking for a specific person to enter a birth, marriage, or death record I would like to see all spouses connected to a individual.
Currently I have my search window configured as shown, but it only shows the first spouse under the Family column. Is there a way to show all? same column or seperate columns?
The column expression is "INDI.FAMS>"
I am a bit confused when doing querys on the expressions, there seems to be multiple options to select a family spouse.
2nd attachment, under the individual is a Family as Spouse (FAS), then under Spouse is a FAS, and it repeats. Can you direct me to a good explanation? I looked in the help files and still can not make sense of the logic.
Thx

Re: Columns selection for individual searches
One concept to remember is instance numbers.
With multiple facts such as Census events, the data ref for 1st one is INDI.CENS[1], the 2nd is INDI.CENS[2], and so on.
If the instance index is omitted then it defaults to [1].
When using the Data Ref Assistant it only ever offers 1st instance [1] and you must manually change to [2] or [3] as required.
The same goes for Families so 1st one is INDI.FAMS> or INDI.FAMS[1]> and the 2nd is INDI.FAMS[2]>, and so on.
So you could put those into separate Columns but they are quite wide and don't explicitly identify the Spouse(s).
The Spouse shortcut is better, i.e. 1st spouse INDI.~SPOU[1]>, 2nd spouse INDI.~SPOU[2]>, and so on.
Put one in each Column to explicitly see each husband or wife.
The nested Spouse entries cater for defining the spouse of a spouse of a spouse, ad infinitum...
e.g. INDI.~SPOU[2]>~SPOU[2] finds this person's 2nd spouse and then their 2nd spouse.
If you inspect the Data Ref Assistant you can get many infinite family chains similar to Spouse.
e.g.
Individual > Family as Spouse > Husband > Family as Spouse > Husband > and so on.
Individual > Family as Child > Father > Family as Child > Father > and so on.
