Box Dimensions
I am in the process of creating a book in V5. I have entered a descendent tree but cannot seem to get the box widths of equal width. I have gone to "Options, dimensions" and entered the same figure for minimum, maximum & standard but to no avail. The only way I have found is to go back to multimedia for each individual and adjust the size of "link to face". Surely there is a better option.

Re: Box Dimensions
Les, I have moved this to the FH General Usage Forum that is more appropriate.
The way to get all boxes the same width or height is to select them all in the Diagram Window (use Ctrl+A) and then use the Diagram > Layout & Scaling > Make Selected Boxes the Same Width/Height commands. They can either all be aligned to the smallest (min) or the largest (max) box.
Some of the other commands in that group may also be useful to tidy the Diagram.

Re: Box Dimensions
I understand how this may work if I was just creating a diagram but it is part of a book under the publish menu. Sorry if I am missing something obvious, but if so could you please advise further. Thanks.

Re: Box Dimensions
The best way to prepare diagrams for books is to build them in the normal diagram option then save them in Chart (Diagram>Save As Chart) to be included into the book.

Re: Box Dimensions
Thanks Jane, it is looking much better now, but there are 2 other things I am trying to do but can't find a way. If possible I would like to do it from the book options. The overall width of the chart is ideal but there is too much space above & below. Could I either increase the gap between rows or make the boxes higher? Also could I make the pictures a bit wider inside the boxes? As well there are 2 boxes where the silhouettes are higher than the others, This is because there are no birth years for them.

Re: Box Dimensions
Unfortunately, those adjustments cannot be made in the Book.
You have to follow a similar strategy as for the width adjustments to the Chart and insert the Chart into the Book.
Use View > Saved Charts to Open your saved Chart.
Use the Diagram > Options > Dimensions tab to increase Minimum/Standard box height and click Apply.
Click the More Dimensions... button and increase the Vertical Dimensions between boxes and click OK.
You will have to experiment to get the desired effect.
Use the Diagram > Layout & Scaling > Make Selected Boxes the Same Height (max) command if necessary.
Use the Diagram > Options > Pictures tab to increase Maximum Picture Height that will also increase width.
Otherwise, the Installation Settings should make all the pictures & silhouettes the same size.
But that does rely on all the pictures having a similar aspect ratio.
When satisfied, use the Diagram > Save Diagram command to update the saved Chart.
Finally, ensure that Chart appears in the Book.
