New Source Record

Recently (being a member of Lost Cousins) I tried to make a list of people on my tree who were on the 1881 census. I looked at the list function and put in 1881 but it gave me every census, so not a lot of use.
However now when I enter a new source for a person, the New Source Record in Type shows 1881 which I don't use-is there a way of deleting this?

As far as I can see V6 does not default a type it will just appear in the dropdown list. Items are shown in the list if they exist in a source. If you go to Tools>Work With Data>Source Types you can see which record you have with that type.

There are plenty of Queries to list Census by date in the Knowledge base, such as
fhugdownloads:contents:kinsfolk_census_queries|> Query:Individual ~ Kinsfolk Census Queries

As an alternative you could use the free program FTAnalyzer http://ftanalyzer.com/ which automates the upload to Lost Cousins as well as a a lot of other things. One caveat is that you will need to check what has been uploaded, for example different spelling of names or wrong ages, as it uploads what is recorded in FH which may differ from what is in the census.

It seems to have kept 1881 in the drop-down list so I guess there seems no way to get rid of it from the list, Jane?
I forgot about the FT Analyser, thanks for reminding me, Brian.

If a source type exists in the list there must be at least one source of that type. As Jane has already said in her previous reply, you can use Tools>Work with Data>Source Types to see where that type is used. Select 1881 from the list and click Where Used on the right.

You probably won't want to delete the whole source where it is used but you can remove the 1881 from the type field. When you have removed all uses of that type it will disappear from the list.
