For anyone who hasn't seen my answer to the same point elsewhere, look at the 'Improve Website or CD DVD HTML' plugin for a search and filter facility on the Index of Names, or think about using a browser add-in like 'Search the current site' to search the with Google.

I have moved this from the New Wish List Requests to the FH General Usage Forum, because as Helen says, there are already solutions.

See how_to:make_family_tree:adjust_index_of_names|> Family Tree Tips ~ Adjust Index of Names.

There is an example at http://www.tatewise.co.uk/ancestry/_nameindex.html

The only snag with a browser plugin is that whoever you send the CD/DVD to must be advised to install that plugin.
