I have a black and white lazer printer.
I want to save a colour pdf of an fh chart diagram to send to people.
How does one do this?
My chart saves as a pdf to print (I think one is instructed to do this?) and at once loses all its colour. This is correct if I want to print it out at home but not the result I want for saving and sending to another researcher.

I assume the Diagram has all the colours you require when displayed in FH?
Check Diagram > Options > Print tab or File > Print Setup dialogue Print text, lines and boxes in black-and-white only is not ticked.

Re: Saving a Diagram Tree as Colour pdf
Yes Mike. It does. It is not a diagram I have designed. I make it by clicking on the descendant chart button above the person in the focus window. And it is all default (I believe).
In the end I sent the researcher a GEDCOM instead and updated my GEDSITE website. The idea of sending a diagram was to show two connected DNA matches -
But for the future I need maybe to select a different and notional printer when saving a pdf? I think there was a similar issue in TMG. I never understood all the printers that get installed.
I am now using Windows 10 so maybe have to update my profile?

Re: Saving a Diagram Tree as Colour pdf
Just because you chose the toolbar icon to produce the Diagram does NOT ensure it is using installation defaults.
If you have ticked Print text, lines and boxes in black-and-white only to get black & white laser PDF, then it is very likely that is the default for ALL Diagrams regardless of which icon or command you used.
Please check that setting as I requested, so you know for future reference.

Re: Saving a Diagram Tree as Colour pdf
You must take great care set non-default settings in saved Diagram Types accessed via View > Custom Diagram Types.
Otherwise, you must ensure the Diagram > Options > Save as default box bottom left is not ticked.
If that is ticked, then any changed setting affects all the standard Diagrams.
Now that you have unticked Print text, lines and boxes in black-and-white only your PDF destined for laser printer will be coloured.
