Estimated Alive Query at - with extra parameters

I would like to amend the existing standard query to show all those with a defined name (surname and/or first name) are likely to have been alive in a certain year. This is mainly for individuals with only baptism or burial dates. eg I want to know which individuals named John Snell are likely to have been alive in 1709 with any approx ages. The only thing I've managed to achieve is a parameter box asking for the surname and first name, but the results are not related to that at all! I do understand that the estimated functions have their limitations but I would like to be able to try it and see if it will work. Can anyone help me please?

It's important to look through the filters you have applied. So to filter to a surname you should be using Exclude Unless for both prompts assuming they are following the original ones.
If you post a screenshot of the rows tab we might be able to spot what you have done.

Marlene, you need to think about how the Filters are applied in order.
Your new first two will exclude records unless they meet the name criteria.
But the next three will add records that meet the EstimatedBirthDate criteria regardless of names! So undo everything.
The last two will exclude records that meet their criteria.
The original four Add if and Exclude if date filters yield the desired alive at date subset of records.
You need to move your two Exclude unless filters to after those four original filters.
Then any records that don't meet the name criteria will be excluded from that alive at date subset of records.
You should not need the Exclude if the surname is null.
Remember that Add if/unless filters will add from the entire database of records any that meet criteria.
Whereas, Exclude if/unless filters will remove from the current filtered subset of records.

Thanks so much Mike - I will work on that.
Can you also point me to a resource that explains the structure of functions such as the EstimatedAgeAt etc? I was looking for an explanation of the parts between the ()

Yes, see how_to:understanding_functions|> Understanding Functions that has references to FH Help and some tips.
The FH Help explains every Function its ( parameters ) and how it operates.
