COMBINING PROJECTS

Post by KiwiPeterHill » 11 Apr 2020 00:51

Hi all, when I started doing my FH research I decided I would have 2 or 3 projects with different name groups. The main project is the Master and holds the bulk my Tree etc. The others have people in that are Not necessarily related but I intended to get back to them. So they are UNRELATED INDIVIDUALS.

Can I combine these projects back into the Main project, Maintain them as UNRELATED INDIVIDUALS and then I can add them to my named lists ?

Yes you can just merge the files in. See glossary:merge_compare_files|> Merge/Compare File

Peter, I have moved this to the FH General Usage Forum as it doesn't involve Importing/Exporting with another product.

Most advice in glossary:merge_compare_files|> Merge/Compare File is superfluous to your needs, because firstly you already have well maintained Projects for each tree, and secondly there will be very little if any Merge synchronisation to worry about.

There certainly won't be any records to Merge on the Individuals or Families tabs, but do check the Sources, Media, etc, tabs just in case any need Merging or some are being Merged when they should not.
