When loading a zipped backup project you need to open FH and then use File > Import/Export > Import > Family Historian Project. You then browse for the location of the zipped project, select it and click Open.

My apologies, I must have been half asleep when I wrote my reply!! I should have said File > Backup/Restore > Restore Backup, not Import/Export.

HOWEVER that is not all there is to migrating from PC to PC, as there are several pitfalls.

Please see the how_to:family_historian_migration_guide|> Family Historian V5 & V6 Migration Guide and follow it step by step, otherwise you may fall into one of those pits.

( How many times have I posted that advice this week? )

luckily I have no customisations of which I am aware. I have loads of photos and some stories in notes all of which seemed to have survived.

Thanks for your help.
Job done!
