If you load the file into another program without exporting, the notes will simply have some "codes" in, but the text is still readable
Presumably HTML/XML tags, as this would give the required formatting without making the output excessively complex or opaque. I thoroughly endorse the "it will be released when it is ready, and not before" approach taken by both Family Historian 7 and RootsMagic 8. Much better to have the product working properly than chase an artificial deadline.

I saw Version 7 at RootsTech and wandered over for a proper look thinking 'not more people trying to make money out of me'. It is mind-blowingly good and I can't wait to get my hands on it :D
