Family Historian User Group

I am a low level user of FH and been using it for 2 years now. I mainly input data, sources and rarely use the diagram view to find people. I print a few basic reports for my paper files and use a few queries to find information I want.

I have been reading the DNA posts on here and the various methods of recording and linking common ancestors as I am about to do my DNA test with Ancestry. It makes sense to keep all the information in FH rather than using spreadsheets and tables to do the work and then just using notes in FH.

I was at Rootstech and saw the overview of DNA reports in V7 and wondered whether they would be affected by the method one uses to record DNA.

I want to benefit from other people's experience of what works but obviously don't want to start using one and then find it needs changed for the new version.

Most of the DNA tools in 7 are to do with using existing relationships but taking into account Adoption markers etc.

I will be continuing to use Notes to record the shared ancestors as per https://www.taubman.org.uk/family/wp/20 ... historian/ but updating them with the "live" record links available in 7.

It was lovely to meet you at Rootstech and thanks for the quick help with sources in v 6 and using witnesses. At the moment I use Ancestral Sources for BMD certificates and census.
