I am in the process of trying ver. 6.
One thing that is driving me nuts is my inability to select what information to include and how to do it.
Thanks in advance for all help.
Tony.

Welcome to the FHUG Tony.

As always, to help us help you, please be more specific.
What information in particular is giving you a problem?

Did you study any of the how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers as advised when you joined?

Are you familiar with family history research in general, and just having a problem with FH?
What genealogy software have you used before?
Have you built a family tree in that software?
You can probably migrate that across to FH.

For the past 20 odd years I have been using Family Tree Maker. I have at least 6 generations of every Renaissance family worth remembering, from the Medici, de' Medici, Montefeltro, Borja y Gil, Este, Machiavelli, Cellini, etc.

I am currently working on a comparison between the Greek Theogony of Hesiod and that of Apollonius (beside the language change).
Since there have been many repetitions of names, particularly during the Renaissance, the Per. Id. in the box next to the name has become one of the most important aspects of tree-publishing for me. In the de' Medici tree there are no less than 8 Giovanni de' Medici, and 5 Lorenzo de' Medici.

Right now all I get in Family Historian descendants tree is the name and the aka. I want the b, m, and d, and also the Per. Id. for every individual.

Thanks for any help.

If you right click on a diagram and select Diagram Options, then select the Text tab in the dialogue box you will see a whole range of predefined options, which you can edit or even create your own. You can see in the image I am using one I have customised which shows Birth, Marriage, Death and Occupations.

Thank you very much, David, worked like a charm.
I attach a capture to give you an idea what I have been banging my head about since midnight.
I'm 75 and don't sleep much.
Tony.

Tony, you must have performed a lot of unnecessary customisation to get that box display.
I suggest you study how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers, especially the Documentation & Tutorials including Getting the Most From Family Historian chapter 3. Introduction to Diagrams and 9. Setting the Style, Layout & Content of Diagrams.

Hello Mike.
As a matter of fact, once I got David's message it took me no more than 5 minutes to get what you see.
In this instance, of course, I left the born, married, and died out for obvious reasons.
I think I can get to like this program.
Tony.

How embarrassing!
I forgot to thank you , Anne, for pointing me in this direction in the first place.
But all's well that ends well. (I learnt that from Socrates or Mark Twain, I'm not sure. I always get those two mixed up).
Tony.
