Installing version 2 on new laptop

Post by canberra100 » 18 Nov 2018 17:15

Hello Everyone,

Knowing my luck I am probably on the wrong forum, if I am my apologies.

I have been away from FHUG for quite some time through illness and am trying to get back in the swing. My plea is for advice on how to install FH from version 2 through to version 5 (upgrades) on my new laptop. I tried starting from version 2 (first purchase) but received an error message stating it did not recognise the software. I am running windows 10.

Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks

You do not need to install all the previous releases. If your Version 5 was an upgrade then all you need to do is install Version 5 and have the Version 4 license key and the Version 5 license key.

See how_to:reinstall_family_historian|> Family Historian Installation Advice in the Knowledge Base for more information.

Peter, you are correct about the Forum, so I moved this to FH General Usage.

I suspect you will also want to move Projects and settings from your old PC to new laptop.

See how_to:family_historian_migration_guide|> Family Historian V5 & V6 Migration Guide for advice.
