Notes field missing

Post by ColinH » 26 Oct 2018 17:43

Strange thing. For some individuals, there is no Notes field on the Birth Fact. Where it should be is just a space.

How can I get this back?

Thanks

Colin, it looks as if you tried to attach a JPG image to show us but it hasn't worked.
To attach an image, either drag and drop it into the message box or use the Attachments tab below the message box and click Add Files and browse for the image file.

I can't be sure without seeing the image, but you may just need to adjust the relative sizes of the different parts of the Property Box. Is the Sentence field missing as well? Is there a grey line of dots with the word more as shown below? If so, click on it.

OK, it looks as if you have removed Note from the list of Fields Required for the Birth fact.
Use Tools > Fact Types, select Birth then click Edit and tick the Note option.

Colin, you say the Note field is only missing for some Individuals.
That fits with Lorna's explanation, because if some Birth facts had Note text added before the Fields Required option got unticked, then that Note text will still be shown, but Birth facts without a Note will have the box missing.

I suspect the problem arose as an accidental side effect of the Adding 'Weight' to the 'Birth' fact (16330) customisations.

That was it, I must have accidentally un-ticked it. All OK now

Thanks
