chart documents in book

Post by Taterbug » 19 Oct 2018 18:16

How do you remove the title Shown on this Chart page I build, filled with pictures of documents.
I've looked in most of the normal places of these documents and cannot find where I can move or change the name after it
was named and developed.
See the attachments.
The specific title of this doc is "Fenner Historical Pictures 3d" which covers up the document of interest.
I would like to change the name, or,
i would like to move, shrink the font & place it further up, or take it off this page completely.

I have moved this to the FH General Usage Forum as it is not to do with Research.

It seems to be related to your Historic Picture Posting in Published Book category (15942) thread.

There are several options depending on what is on preceding pages, and what you want in the Table of Contents, etc.

In the Edit Book dialogue, with this Chart selected, investigate the Edit and Settings buttons, and Book Settings button.

The Edit button allows the Position on Page to be adjusted so the image is lower on page and reduced Scale.
Click the Options button and on General tab, Background: One colour click Options and <<Select White, or on Print tab untick Print background and then the grey background will become white.

The Settings button allows the Heading text and Format to be changed.
Only Format: Chapter will cause the title to appear in the Table of Contents, otherwise there will be no crossreference.
Each Format: Heading Level ... will yield smaller text, and No heading will yield nothing, but all will gain a Header derived from the preceding Chapter as defined by the Book Settings > Page Layout tab Header settings and Line below header tick option.

BTW: Usually these types of documents would be considered as Source Media attached to Source records and cited where appropriate. Then they would appear in the Sources section of relevant Reports within the Book without needing Chart pages.
