GEDCOM Question

Does anyone know how I could go about viewing a GEDCOM file on a chromebook? I've searched chrome extensions and Google but, can't find anything to suit my purpose. I'm not trying to host a website with my family tree information, I just want to view a GEDCOM file that someone else sent me. Thanks in advance!

You could try Gedstar, it is an app which runs on Android, devices, but you will need access to a PC, required for the companion program which converts the Gedcom into Gedstar format. I have converted my tree and the app runs happily on my android phone.

Don't know what a Chromebook is but a friend sent me a gedcom file last week and it opened easily in FH. I just gave it a new name and project. Sorry if this irrelevant.

You could upload the file to
http://www.familysearch.org, you need to be registered with them (free of charge).

There are two main options:
- Use an Android application from the Google Play Store.
See how_to:family_historian_on_imac_ipad_android_etc#android|> Android for some suggestions.
Also Heredis is an option, but most need a Windows program to convert the GEDCOM file to Android format.
- Upload the GEDCOM file to an online family tree building website.
Options include Ancestry, FindMyPast, FamilySearch, RootsWeb, TribalPages & ZoomPast.
They are all free and the tree can be made private, but you must register a username & password.
