Delete Confirmation Dialog

Post by mjlinsights » 09 Jun 2018 08:02

Is there a way to turn off the delete confirmation dialog when deleting items?

Many software products provide the ability to enable or disable delete confirmations, and I am assuming that Family Historian should do also, but I have searched the Preferences, searched the Help pages and look in Forums, but can't find anyway to do it.

Please help as the constant 'binging' is driving me nuts. Yes I know I could turn the sound down, but then I can't listen to my music whilst researching ;-)

Appreciate any help and guidance, thank you.

I don't think so, but you could always use the sound mixer to turn down the system sounds and turn up the music player.

Thank you for the speedy response. wonder if it would be a suitable request for the 'Wish List'?

It is probably better to report that issue directly to Calico Pie using the how_to:about#problem_reporting|> Problem Reporting technique.

Interestingly, only some Delete operations make a sound, such as Charts, Diagram & Report Types, and Plugins, whereas deleting GEDCOM database entries do not make a sound.

BTW: As a newcomer I suggest that you study how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers and all its links to other [kb]|[/kb] pages.

I suspect the variations are due to some deletes being make by the system and others internally by FH. You could change the system sounds scheme to No Sounds which will then apply to all software.

In Windows 10 type "system sounds" into the taskbar search box. The top item should be Change System Sounds. Selecting that will give you a tabbed property box with the third tab labelled sounds and selected.

Select "No Sounds" as the sound scheme.

If that is too much overkill then select Windows Default as the Sound Scheme and try to work out which Program Event is making the sound and change that to none. It is probably Default Beep.

I have added that advice to how_to:delete_custom_diagram_fact_set_query_report#silence_deletion_sound|> Silence Deletion Sound but I found the Window > Exclamation needed its Sounds to be set to (None).
