* FH6.2.2 out of the box hangs while downloading update - with workaround

I just purchased the FH6 CD ROM from S&N via Amazon.uk and installed it as v 6.2.2 It immediately recommended upgrading to 6.2.6. I accepted this but it hung for a long time on a window saying "Downloading Update." I tried a couple of other times on different PCs in the house but it only upgraded correctly on one. All were on Windows 10, with Avast free antivirus.

I was able to resolve this by cancelling the upgrade, closing FH6, and downloading and then installing the upgrade manually from https://www.family-historian.co.uk/down ... ee-upgrade. After a reboot, the upgraded FH6 was then working.

I hope this may help other new users.

Yes, others have reported that the internal FH auto-update process quite often fails.
