* relation to head in census

I am very happy with FH charts and relationship to head in census. However, I am wondering if I could do this better.

Below William Brooks Dowsett is the son of William Brooks Dowsett.

Gill, Cole, Ruggles are lodgers whereas in FH facts they would appear to be related from a family perspective; please see below:-

Is there a better way for me to record this from a historical perspective?

FH focusses on Family Genealogical relationships, and has no standard mechanism for non-family connections such as Lodger or Servant.

When entering the details of Gill, Cole & Ruggles you have chosen to add them as Sons of William Brooks Dowsett senior.
FH would not do that on its own accord.

In the Focus window, I suggest you focus on William Brooks Dowsett senior, with Gill, Cole & Ruggles shown as Children.
Right-click on each such Child (who is actually a Lodger) and choose Unlink Record.
Those people will become unrelated Individuals but still associated with the family household via the Census Source Citations.

There are advanced techniques using Associated Persons or Fact Witnesses to form closer connections between the family members and the lodgers, but since they are only unrelated lodgers why bother?

I agree with Mike, if they are not related don’t add them. The only thing I would do in this case, is to add a note against the head of household, stating the fact that these individuals were lodging with him in 1871, just in case they turn out to be related

Many a time I have come across someone who had a visitor staying with them, who later turned out to be distant relative or even a future spouse!

You give me too much credit . It is Tribalpages itself, that creates the website, which I then tailored with banners, introduction and colours. All I had to do was upload a Gedcom, Tribalpages did the rest!
I use the site as a backup for my research, which also allows me to share it with others. It is also free for a basic tree, (a good selling point), and for a reasonably small fee, you can get an upgraded site, with more facilities, including extra media allowed.
