Aye Jan,
Whilst I am unable to answer your query, welcome and I am sure Mike (Tatewise) will be able to assist you, as will others. You should also note that they may move your message to the 'General Use' forum rather than in this 'Research' forum, as that appears more appropriate to you query.
My regards, Bill

Re: My tree is not in the project form on FamilyHistorian. How can I get it into the PROJECT format?
As Bill predicted, I have moved this to the FH General Usage Forum as it is nothing to do with Research.
Jan, I am dismayed that you gave no follow up to your moving new family record from Ancestry into FH where there is an existing tree (15771) posting, and may be your current problem is a side effect of that.
FH can open your data in two ways:
It would help to know what processes and commands you used to get into the current state.
How is the current data related to the two sets of data in your previous posting?
Please give us actual file / project names to work with, as that makes any explanations much easier to follow.
In your previous posting I advise you study how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers and its links to other [kb]|[/kb] pages. Where one of those links is to how_to:v4:understanding_projects|> Understanding Projects that is very relevant to your current predicament.

I haven't finished the new tree on Ancestry to merge them into Family Historian. I'm still adding the missing person I have found on Ancestry to a new tree, which is a long process. As I'm doing that, I found I had not started the PROJECT in Family Historian. So I have a lot to do.
Sorry if you thought I'd be done by now.

You say you are "adding the missing person I have found on Ancestry to a new tree".
How did you create that new tree?
You must use File > Project Window > New Project to create a new Project, so that it appears in the Project Window.
Why are you adding the missing person to a new tree, rather than adding them to your existing tree?
Please explain why it is a long process, because it should be very quick and easy.
I may have misunderstood exactly what you are doing, so please use your tree names and make it clear which product (Ancestry or FH) you are working on. Also please focus on one problem at a time, and avoid extraneous details.
Perhaps you are saying that the "existing tree with photos" you mentioned in your other posting is the one you are talking about now as not being listed in the File > Project Window. May be it never was listed there. In which case where did that "existing tree with photos" come from and how did you migrate it into FH?

Re: My tree is not in the project form on FamilyHistorian. How can I get it into the PROJECT format?
On Ancestry, I needed to make a new tree to export the people I have found there since making the last Gedcom file which I had upload to FH.
Instead of just one family of people to add to FH, I am making a new tree/Gedcom on Ancestry with all the people, a hundred or more, I've found since to add to the FH tree. I will merge the two Gedcom files on FH.
On Ancestry, I'm not sure why it is taking so long other than that I have to go to each person's profile and add them to the new tree/Gedcom that I will bring into FH and merge with the main one I have there.
Yes, the "existing tree with photos" on my other posting is the one I am talking about as not being listed in the File > Project Window. When I uploaded the Gedcom to FH, I had added a lot of pictures to the tree there.
Sorry, I haven't found an easier way to do this.

Re: My tree is not in the project form on FamilyHistorian. How can I get it into the PROJECT format?
OK Jan, for the moment let us focus on the "existing tree with photos" that is not listed in the File > Project Window.
Please answer all the questions I ask, so then we will get to a solution together much quicker.
What is the name of your "existing tree with photos" as shown top left of the main FH window?
Did that tree GEDCOM file also come from Ancestry, or somewhere else?
Did you upload that GEDCOM file to FH using File > Project Window > New Project?
If so, did it previously appear in the File > Project Window, but has subsequently vanished, or was it never listed there?
How do you get that tree displayed when you open FH?
Once I understand how you have got to where you are now, then we can put it right.
Once that is fixed, we can discuss adding all the new people you have found.
It might be better to suspend any more work on Ancestry for the time being, as it may not be the most efficient use of your time.

Re: My tree is not in the project form on FamilyHistorian. How can I get it into the PROJECT format?
The name of the "existing tree with photos" as shown top left of the main FH window is:
Ancestry file 3-18 Honor Tree_ Day, Dunn, etc.ged
Yes, tree GEDCOM file came from Ancestry.
No, I didn't upload that GEDCOM file to FH using File > Project Window > New Project. I used IMPORT>GEDCOM file.
No, it never appeared in File > Project Window. But I seem to have a problem with pictures I have, added and saved,
disappearing.
To open the file I use: GEDCOM File Tasks> Open GEDCOM File.
I have not added more people at Ancestry since I realized it was a problem to keep doing that.
Thank you, Mike!

Re: My tree is not in the project form on FamilyHistorian. How can I get it into the PROJECT format?
OK Jan, that explains why it never appears in the File > Project Window.
It is not a Project, but what we call a stand-alone GEDCOM file that you are just browsing.
I suspect that after adding pictures, you have deleted/moved the original images, and you get a rectangle with diagonal lines.
In your original moving new family record from Ancestry into FH where there is an existing tree (15771) I advised that as a newcomer you study how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers and its links to other [kb]|[/kb] topics.
One of those topics refers to Importing to Family Historian with a link to how_to:import_from_ancestry|> Import from Ancestry website.
There it advises to import the GEDCOM file via File > Project Window > New Project > Import a GEDCOM file.
So perform that operation on your Ancestry file 3-18 Honor Tree_ Day, Dunn, etc.ged file, but give the New Project Name a much shorter and meaningful name.
Thereafter, when you add pictures, the default & recommended option is to Copy Files to <Default Location within Project Folder> where they should not get lost.
That is covered in the aforementioned how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers in the book "Getting the Most From Family Historian" in chapters 4/5 Pictures & Media Part 1/2. Please do spend some time studying the Documentation & Tutorials so you understand the features of FH better, and save time in the long run.

Re: My tree is not in the project form on FamilyHistorian. How can I get it into the PROJECT format?
Hi Mike,
I was able to get the tree into the Project Window. So that's good.
I was also able to upload the new merge tree from ancestry and into FH.
And I merged them.
So now I just need to get the pictures into my FH tree.
Thank you for all your help,
Jan
