Mapping Geo Coded Locations for Selected Individuals
I have created a custom query to select relatives of a selected individual and all their birth places. When I then map birth places with geo code and create a map, the marker set pins on the map list ALL events for that geo coded place. I would like to have the marker set pins only show birth events for only the individuals resulting in the query. Is that possible?

I don't think that can be done. You can create a marker set for a specified list of individuals, but it will show all the events associated with those individuals, not just their birth places.

You can actually
Open the Map window and create a Marker set using the Records option and the normal Query option to select the records from your Query.
Then click the Fact Types button and select just the Birth Fact.

Re: Mapping Geo Coded Locations for Selected Individuals
Sorry to butt in here, but I thought I'd try this as I've wanted to do this in the past. It isn't working for me.
After selecting my records using a query and clicking on OK, the places are plotted on the map, but the Fact Types... button is grayed out. What am I doing wrong.
Thanks,

Re: Mapping Geo Coded Locations for Selected Individuals
You have selected a group of Place records. You need to select Individual records. When you click the Set Tasks button and Add Marker Set you need to choose Individuals & Places. You then choose the Individuals with either Add Using Query or Named List. See this example from the FH Sample project.
So you can use the map to show where a particular group of individuals were born, but you can't start with a particular list of places and find out who was born in those places, without showing all the events at those places.

Lorna,
I must have been asleep as well.
I knew I had to select individuals, but selected places instead. Works like a charm when you do the right thing!
Thanks!

Re: Mapping Geo Coded Locations for Selected Individuals
Based on the responses and some experimenting I found the following steps work if you want to create a map for selected facts/events for selected individuals only. The steps I outline below will create map pins with call out only for the selected people and not events for all people in your database attached to that location.
1. Create a custom query to select the desired individuals.
2. From the menu bar select Map>View Map Window and then clear the property box from the screen 3. Next select Set Task>Add Marker Set. 4. In the New Marker Set window give the set a unique Name, make sure Individual & Places is selected. Pick your Map Marker and the select OK
5. A Select Records window will appear. Select Add using Query and then select OK.
6. When Select Individual Query window appears select the query to use and then select OK for the query and OK in Select Records window.
7. Now Fact Types becomes available. Select Fact Types. Initially all fact types will appear checked. Select Uncheck All then select one or more facts to be displayed on you map and then select OK.
Note: If you want to create a map with multiple map tags/colors go through steps 1 through 7 for each fact type to be mapped.
The resultant map will have only map pins and callouts for fact(s) and individuals selected.
