* Merging Duplicate Media

My media (1220 no. total) imported from TMG v 9.5 into FH v6 are in duplicate pairs of the same media (image) each with a single link to either a source or a fact. I wish to merge each duplicate pair so that I then will have one media (image) with two links, one to the source and one to the fact.

I have been trying, but failing, to do this via View>Record Lists>Media and applying the 'Basic Record Merge / Compare' method as Simon Orde appears to recommend on page 211 of his Official Guide 'Getting the Most from Family Historian 6'. The Guide advises "For more information about this method see the 'Help', but I cannot find this in 'Help'.
Any advice on merging my duplicate media would be much appreciated.

Firstly, to find the Help enter Basic Record Merge / Compare into the Search tab and relevant topics are listed.

Alternatively, from the Contents tab select Using Family Historian - Dialogue Boxes - Merge/Compare Dialogue.

You should select one Media Record, use Edit > Merge/Compare Record, select the other Media Record and click OK.

To simplify finding the pairs, use Check for Possible Duplicate Media Plugin, but take note of its instructions in the Plugin Store.

Many thanks again for your very prompt help Mike. I now realise why I was having trouble. I didn't appreciate that to 'select' an item to be merged I have to double click on it not single click even though the latter operation was highlighting it giving the impression it was ready to be merged.

Or you click the > in middle of Select Records To Be Merged dialogue.
Either way the two records must be listed under Selected Media Records on the right.
