Up and down arrows in Property Box - how do I use them?
I'm a bit confused over how to use the up and down arrows in the Property Box's Fact tab. I have some facts in the wrong order and want to rearrange them. However, whatever I do I can't seem to get the arrows to work. They are permanently greyed out even when I selected individual facts. Any help or insight into this problem would be appreciated.

When items are displayed in a spreadsheet like manner, whatever window you are in, clicking on a row header e.g. date, the records will be sorted in ascending order on that field. If you hold the Alt key when clicking, it will sort in reverse order.

Facts in the Fact tab are sorted by Date and the Fact Types "Normal Time Frame" and the arrows on the Fact Tab will only allow you to move Facts within the date and Time Frame restrictions.
So for example you can't put a Probate event before a Death event or a pre-birth fact after a birth. If you have generic custom facts you want to move to any position you need to make sure you have a Normal Time frame of "None"

There is more advice in how_to:sorting_children|> Sorting Children, Spouses & Facts into Order.
The Facts tab up/down arrows don't work at all until Facts you are trying to move have been sorted by an auto-sort method.
See above advice.
Richard, you say you "have some facts in the wrong order", so can you explain what ordering problems you have and we give more explicit advice. Maybe the auto-sort methods in the advice above are all you need.

Hmm, seems like a false alarm now. I added a fact to the Facts tab with a date of this year but it appeared in the list above facts with much earlier dates. I was trying to move it down the list so that it appeared in chronological order. However, I have just checked the tab and the fact now appears at the bottom of the list in proper date order. I didn't do anything to cause that I am aware of. So all is well for now.tatewise wrote: Richard, you say you "have some facts in the wrong order", so can you explain what ordering problems you have and we give more explicit advice. It may not be as 'well' as you think, because the Facts tab sorts by Date column automatically, which may fool you into thinking your facts are in date order when they are not.
If you check on the All tab you will see the true order of your data, and usually is the order of your data in Reports.
I strongly advise you review your data carefully, study the advice in how_to:sorting_children|> Sorting Children, Spouses & Facts into Order, which reiterates what I said above, and probably use one of the automatic ordering methods to enforce chronological order.
