Issue with nothing showing in web search window for FMP hints

Post by broadstairs » 17 Dec 2017 13:48

I am running FH 6.2.5 on Windows 7 and when I click on a hint for an individual and use the internal web search window all that happens is I get a blank window with an FMP url but nothing displays. When I select an external browser (in this case currently Firefox but likely to change) it works fine and I can view the hints just fine.

Now I have read somewhere that this requires IE for the internal browser to work but I do not have IE installed and have no intention of adding it.

Is this true and if so has it been reported back to Calico Pie and are they doing anything about it?

There is nothing Calico Pie can do about using the IE Shell for the internal Web Search Window.
That is the only option available in the Windows OS for programs to use.
Anyway, you cannot uninstall IE as it is fundamental to Windows and without it the Desktop, File Explorer, et al, would not work.

Check the advice in how_to:internet_data_matches|> Internet Data Matches.

Have you tried using the refresh in the internal Web Search Window?

Its OK if that's what it uses I'll continue to use Firefox as I have no desire to fix up IE. As far as I am concerned this is now closed.
