Property box display problem

Post by Bob K » 28 Nov 2017 17:30

I have managed to transfer my FH 5.0.11 to my new PC running Windows 10 but I'm having problems with the display of the Property box. For instance if I select the 'Facts' tag and then select one of the list of facts the row of Facts options/icons (Add fact, copy fact(s), paste fact(s), etc.) at the bottom of the list of Facts is only partially visible. The same effect is also present if the Notes and Multimedia tags are selected

Enlarging the Properties box or using the gripper bars to change the various areas has no effect on the partially visible options/icons.

Any suggestions to correct this display problem would be much appreciated.

Welcome to your first posting on the FHUG Bob.
That Property Box display problem is not one I am familiar with.

Please check you have used the best strategy to migrate from PC to PC as advised in how_to:family_historian_migration_guide|> Family Historian V5 & V6 Migration Guide.

Is your Windows 10 using the default screen display settings regarding size, fonts, etc?
Is your FH V5 installation using the default display options?

Could you attach a screen-shot as advised in info:forums#posting_topics|> Posting Topics.

This issue may or may not be related to the property box and the physical size of the monitor/screen being used. If the property box contains a lot of content such as the addition of several customised fields, on laptop screens that have a reduced vertical height, the bottom area of the property box is hidden below the bottom edge of the screen, even when undocked and moved vertically as high as possible.

I have personally asked Simon to provide a solution, so hopefully a vertical scroll bar for the property box may be provided in a future version.

But Trevor it is not possible to customise the Facts, Notes & Media tabs that Bob is having a problem with.
It is only the Main tab and custom tabs that suffer the problem you describe.
