Family Group Sheets
Is it possible to set the options for family group sheets to show full details for the parents, but limited details for children? I'd like to be able to have e.g. life dates for children & name of spouse, but nothing else for them. I'm using FH 6.2.5

Re: Family Group Sheets
Hi Stella, unfortunately that does not appear to be possible with the Options available in FH.
However, if you use Save Report As > Word-Processor Document (RTF) then after saving, FH offers to open the RTF in your default word-processor, where the report can be edited as required.
It is quite easy to delete all the rows of facts for the Child sections.
Alternatively, since the Children are listed near the top with their life dates, their Spouses could be inserted there, and the later Child sections deleted completely.
Finally, with most modern word-processors the resulting report can be exported as a PDF, or of course printed.
BTW: I notice you asked a similar question in posting Family Group Sheet (8177) back in 2003, but got no reply! - Sorry

Thank you. I was afraid that might be the answer. I've tried with one & now know how to get the result I wanted - though it took quite a lot of time

Re: Family Group Sheets
Stella, I find the Individual summary and Family Group sheets inflexible. That is why I do all my reporting with Narrative reports, using the flexibility of fact sentences to give what I want, either individual, or for family, as many generations as you wish.

Jim, I don't believe a Narrative report can "show full details for the parents, but limited details for children" as requested by Stella, otherwise I would have suggested that.

Re: Family Group Sheets
Mike, yes, I was just brainstorming the possibility of extending/restricting the detail to certain groups in sentences by things like root person, their spouse, flag, named list.
However, I agree not very easy if at all possible. I suspect the only way around this would be for FH to provide reports with include/exclude options for various categories of relationship, or flags, named lists.
However:
[1] Individual narrative report, sentences amended, then in Options > Main you can choose Inc Children with or without Child Events/Attributes. It adds the phrase:
[2] Use a 2 generation diagram with potentially big boxes (perhaps no box lines).
I was hoping to use the Box Types and Conditions to select only the parents for certain items/facts but I could not get the permutations to work. I suspect there would be a possibility of using things like (not the best example but the only one I have re a ROOT person):
=TextIf(RecordId(%INDI%) = RecordId(%CUR_DGM_ROOT%),CombineText("<<< Father- ",%INDI.~FATH>NAME%," ","<<< Father- No Details"),)
to generate items for just the ROOT and RootSpouse, but I think that would be very long winded, even if possible.
[3] As in [2] above, use a 2 generation diagram with potentially big boxes (perhaps no box lines):
but give the 2 parents a Flag. For each extra item/fact tick the Flag condition with must set.

Re: Family Group Sheets
Ah yes! Your option [1] does have some potential.
i.e. With Report > Options > Main > Child Events/Attributes unticked, it would only need post-processing in a word-processor to add the Spouses of each Child, or with cunning use of a Named List most Child sentences could be inhibited automatically leaving just Marriage sentences, etc.

Re: Family Group Sheets
For 'post-processing in a word-processor' then a simple query (rough example attached) could give almost any detail required, then saved in tabulated form.
However, most (if not all) of this is fine for an occasional report, but moving away from automation.
