Descendant Outline

Post by DPalomo » 16 Sep 2017 17:47

I'm having a lot of trouble with FH reports and charts (a former TMG user). How do I get descendant outline for an individual through 6 generations, with spouses? I would have thought this would be easy to do. Thanks for any help.

If this the diagram type you are looking for :-

Select View on the main toolbar.
Scroll down and select Standard Diagram Types then Descendent Chart 5 gen.

Tree type : Individual (will show the spouse in the descendant's box)
Root Person : Add your GGX5 (browse from your individuals list)
Then click OK.

Hope i've understood you ok.

Alternatively, simply select Descendant Diagram from the toolbar.
It shows All generations with spouses by default, but if you want to adjust that then use Diagram > Options.

If you want a Report then use Publish > Outline Reports > Descendant Outline.
That shows 3 generations by default, but adjust that with Report > Options.

I advise you study how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers, especially "Getting the Most From Family Historian" with many tutorials, and in this context Ch 3. Introduction to Diagrams and Ch 17. Reports or Ch 15. Reports and Narratives.

BTW: Did the reply to your 1st posting missing header in gedcom export (14179) solve your problem?
