I've made a grandmother the mother - that is I am missing a generation. Can you please tell me how to insert a generation in the middle of ancestors. Thank you

Normally, if I merely entered the incorrect person, I just overwrite the focus window information with the right individual, or delete the person, then enter the correct person, and reenter the deleted person.

If you don't wish to delete the grandmother and reenter her, you can right click, and unlink her, but not delete. Any records associated directly with the grandmother will stay with her until you relink her. Then add the mother, and then add the grandmother by link existing record as her mother. You can note the grandmother's record ID before unlinking, and then when relinking, merely enter that ID from the popup of existing persons. Or, you can find her by first & last name.

The how_to:removing_unwanted_relations|> Removing Unwanted Relations describes Ron's method that uses the Focus Window.

Having used Unlink Record on the wrong 'mother', use the Add ...'s Mother link to Create New Record for missing mother, and then use her Add ...'s Mother link to Link Existing Record and choose the grandmother you just unlinked.
