Individual Summary Report - Showing Sources for Birth Witnesses

Post by shoshk » 22 May 2017 00:57

I am using 'father' and 'mother' witnesses on birth events and attaching sources so I know where I got the information.

I can't figure out how to display my sources for 'father' and 'mother' in the 'Individual Summary Report.'

:(

Thanks,
Shoshana

Source Citations missing from Reports is a well known problem for certain items especially since Fact Witnesses were added.
Note that in the Individual Summary Report it is not currently possible to include Fact Witness Roles, either attached to this person's Facts, or where this person is a Witness attached to another person's Facts, unless you add them to the Main Section Items similar to the technique below, but then they are out of time-line context.

See Wish List Ref 432 Source Citations for all items included in Reports you can Vote for.

The best you can do is use Report > Options > Contents > Main Section Items and add some items.
e.g.
Label: Father Expression: %INDI.BIRT[1]._SHAR[1]% refers to 1st Witness on Birth, which may conventionally be the Father.
To include Source Citations for Witness Roles use the following :-
Label: Source For Expression: %INDI.BIRT[1]._SHAR[1].ROLE% is %INDI.BIRT[1]._SHAR[1].SOUR[1]>%
Label: Source For Expression: %INDI.BIRT[1]._SHAR[2].ROLE% is %INDI.BIRT[1]._SHAR[2].SOUR[1]>%
That will appear as Source For: Father is Source Title
etc.
They will only get included in the Report if those Witness Roles exist.

Mike,

But the citations will not appear, correct?

The Source Citations will NOT appear in the Sources section at the end of the Report, but you can include whatever Source Citation related fields you wish.
e.g.
%INDI.BIRT[1]._SHAR[1].ROLE% is %INDI.BIRT[1]._SHAR[1].SOUR[1]>% Assessment: %INDI.BIRT[1]._SHAR[1].SOUR[1].QUAY% Where: %INDI.BIRT[1]._SHAR[1].SOUR[1].PAGE%
includes the Role the Source Title and Assessment and Where within Source.
These are all available from the <<Insert Data Ref button.
They can either all be included in one Main Section Item as shown above, or create a separate Item for each field Data Ref.
The one thing you cannot include is any actual Media image, although you can include its Title.
Is that enough clues, or do you need specific help for specific Source Citation fields - if so which ones?

Mike,

Yes, I have the idea now.

It's a bit clumsy -- the citations won't appear in the list of sources -- but they WILL appear, and that's what's really important to me.

Thank you.
