Help with .rtf reports

Post by mrznjo » 28 Mar 2017 18:43

Hi,
I am trying to generate some reports for editing in Word. I'm generating the .rtf files ok, but when I open in Word the coding is still visible i.e I get things like {xe "Nottingham"} for the place names etc. Is this a FH issue (I've just upgraded to the latest v6.2.4) or is a Word problem? I did some reports a few months ago which were fine, so this is a new problem.
Any ideas for solving this?
Cheers
Neil

I suspect you have enabled the Report Index option.
Those {xe "Nottingham"} are the cross-ref entries for compiling the Index in RTF/Word.

If you use the Home tab option to Hide/Show paragraph marks button, then those {xe ...} marks are hidden too.

Hi Mike
Thanks for the response, but your suggestion didn't improve things. Any other ideas?

P.S. I still get the same even if I do not have an index in the report.

So please confirm that for that Report in FH the Report > Options > Index tab does NOT have Enable Index ticked.

When I use Save Report As > Word-processor Document (RTF) after clearing that setting, then there are no {xe "..."} items when the saved file is opened in Word. Are you sure that you do still get them?

For RTF reports that do have {xe "..."} items, I use the button ringed in red to Show/Hide them.

Also the Word Options > Display settings must NOT have Hidden text ticked.
Click Office button or File tab top left to access those Options.

Mike,
Yes, I can confirm that FH Report > Options > Index tab does NOT have Enable Index ticked.

I changed the settings that you suggested in Word and that did the job - many thanks indeed!

Best wishes
Neil
