I has started using Flags and corresponding Icons. Se below. But when I loaded a backup on my laptop all my flags and icons were gone. I loaded my small collection of home-made icons in the icon folder - but still no icons under the boxes in my diagrams

. And when I checked all my flags were gone to.
Is my flags saved in the backup? I have the suspicion they are not?
Is there a method to save the flags in the backup? Or is icons and flags locked to the individual installation and not moveable to other installations?
Kind regards
Klaus Yde
Attached my small homemade collection of work icons - Write me if You want a copy of them.

Hi Klaus. Flags and Icons are stored in backups, but remember there are two types of backups.
Flags assigned to Individual records are saved in the Project Backups.
They should have migrated to your laptop. Where did you look?
Icons and Diagram Options (with the Box conditions for Flags) are global custom settings, and apply to all Projects, so are NOT saved in Project Backups. They are saved by the Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings Plugin.
To fully migrate FH and AS and all their Settings and Projects needs both types of backup.
See how_to:family_historian_migration_guide|> Family Historian V5 & V6 Migration Guide for details of how to transfer everything needed from PC to PC.

OK - Thanks.
By the way - It was a Full Backup I restored on my Laptop.
Kind regards

Flags only exist in the Gedcom file, so it does not matter which type of Project Backup for them to transfer, but you do need the Full Backup to transfer Media, etc.
Where did you look when you say the Flags were missing, because they should have transferred with the Project Backup.

I looked under: Edit>Record Flags...... And there were only Living and Private - and not the eight other Flags I had made.

I assume you were looking in the Project you restored from the Full Backup.
i.e. You used File > Backup/Restore > Restore Backup, and in the Restore Project From Backup dialogue, noted the New Project Name, which will often have a (1) or (2) suffix if that name has been used before.
I assume that at least one Individual record had each Flag set in that Project.
If either of the above conditions are not true, then your new Flags will not be listed in Edit > Record Flags.
There are two types of record Flag.
By default any new Flag is local to a Project and will automatically vanish if not assigned to any Individual record.
To make a Flag global, use Tools > Named Lists and Flags, select the Record Flag and click the Flag Status button.
In Record Flag Status dialogue tick Always include this record flag in flag lists.
That saves the Flag name in the global settings so it is available to all Projects at all times, like the Living and Private flags.
To migrate that setting from PC to PC needs the use of the Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings Plugin.
BTW:
I don't know if you have ever used MS Word Templates, but they hold global settings and options for Word Documents.
If you migrate to another PC, then new Word Documents will not have those global settings and options unless you copy the MS Word Templates across, and FH global settings are very similar.
