Abbrev in Focus Window

Post by Salopian1 » 25 Feb 2017 20:57

Just updated to 6.2.3

Now perhaps I'm going senile, but before my update, I'm confident that in the Focus Window, it abbreviated Baptized to 'Bapt'd'. It now shows 'Bapt'c' (See attachment). I've spent a while trying to see where I can correct this, but have given up. Particularly annoying because I keep mistaking it at first glance for c. for circa.

Any ideas anyone? Sorry if it's obvious to everyone else!

Thanks

I'm on 6.2.3 and I get Bapt'd (But only if no birth details)

It looks as if the 'c' you are seeing is actually part of the letter 'd', but with the vertical line obscured by the following text. The colon is also missing on that line, although it shows on the line below, so something is compressing that line.
I can't get this effect on my screen but wonder if it is the result of your particular screen resolution?

I can get that effect by increasing the Font Size for Small Box Text via Tools > Preferences > Focus Window > Fonts button.
I changed from default Microsoft Sans Serif Regular 9 to larger Size 10 and get exactly that effect.
If you keep increasing Size then eventually it happens to all the other labels Born:, Died:, etc.

Thank you both for that. The text size - never occurred to me. And yet I'm sure it was ok before?

I now note that under the Main Tab it abbreviates to Bap: Is there anyway I can get the Focus Window to do the same, or does that cause problems elsewhere? Only trying to save my eyesight a little bit.

No, you cannot customise the labels in the Focus Wndow.
Try increasing the Small Box Text font size to 12 and the label becomes Bapt' with the d: hidden behind the date.

Thanks Mike. A font of knowledge as always.

I'm afraid I don't utilise the full power of what the FH software as to offer, but reading the boards is always an education.

Thanks to all.
