Unable to attach document from Find My Past
I have been investigating the documents which Find My Past suggests may be related to the people in my tree and tried to attach some of them by clicking the appropriate button. The dialogue box which pops up always shows one particular project and not the one I want! I have been unable to change it. I have not specified a default project in the project window so why is it choosing this particular project each time and how can I amend it?

Re: Unable to attach document from Find My Past
As always, a few more specific details would help us understand exactly what you are doing and why it is not working.
Are you generally familiar with the method for attaching documents to your Project once the document file is on your PC?
How have you 'been investigating the documents which Find My Past suggests may be related'?
Are you simply logging in to Find My Past and searching, or are you using the FH Internet Data Matches 'hints'?
Exactly what 'appropriate button' are you clicking? Has it got a name?
Is it Attach to tree at top right of image? Well that attaches to a tree uploaded into the Find My Past website.
Instead use the Download button lower right to get the image down onto your PC first, then use your usual method for attaching an image to FH perhaps involving Ancestral Sources if that is what you usually use for entering new documents.
(It is also possible to use a drag & drop method but it is a little tricky.)

Re: Unable to attach document from Find My Past
Many thanks Tatewise for explaining. I have been using the 'Attach to your tree' button and didn't realise it would be attached to a FMP tree. I am used to attaching documents to an Ancestry tree, where the document is linked to the tree you are working on and the sources automatically entered. Now I know to download the document to my PC and insert the sources myself. Many thanks.
If you are the same Mr Tate who writes the genealogical mysteries then thank you for those too. They are real page-turners which I can't put down when I start. I'm looking forward to the next one! CheshireCat

No, I am a different Mr Tate - that surname is quite common.
I can understand the misunderstanding coming from Ancestry & FTM.
