Wish to transfer my complete FH programme including Media to a new laptop. I have registration key and FH 5 & FH 6 upgrade keys. Do I start by copying to a separate hard drive and opening on the new laptop or is there an easier way? Both are running Windows 10.
Can I run on both computers short term?

Re: New laptop
That well trodden path is in the how_to:family_historian_migration_guide|> Family Historian V5 & V6 Migration Guide. If anything isn't clear then please ask before starting. Don't skip steps, as that is where others have come unstuck.
You can continue to run FH on both PC indefinitely, and synchronise them as advised above via OneDrive in Windows 10.

Re: New laptop
Hello Mike,
Sorry to be so unknowledgeable on this but on my new laptop (almost empty) there is not a programme where I can enter the V5 or V6 upgrade codes into.
Item B on the migration step, "install the Full V6 on the new pc using current licence details of V6" Where/what do I install into?
I do not have a CD as I originally (many years ago) joined on a download.
There`s always one Mike!

Re: New laptop
Bruce, the full details are in how_to:reinstall_family_historian|> Family Historian Installation Advice.
You only need the Upgrade V5 to V6 installation .exe file you downloaded from Calico Pie within the last 2 years.
You install that on your new PC just like you did before on old PC, and it will ask for both V5 and V6 licence details.
You don't have that installation download file any more I hear you cry! (Where have I heard that before?)
So follow the advice in how_to:family_historian_licence_problems|> Family Historian Licence Problems and when you have got the download create an Installation Archive - you paid for it, so look after it.
Then you can get on with the Migration Guide...
