When i close down my program when i am finished for the day; When i open it up, I would like to open it up on the person i have been working on rather than on the root person.
How do i do this please?
Thank you in advance.

I don't believe that you can do this, but a quick way of achieving it is to have the Individual Records window open and the on the Updated column hold down the Alt key and click on that column title. That will sort the displayed records to show the most recently updated one at the top.
Under Tools...Preferences...Startup check the Display Records Window, instead of the Focus Window, at Startup to have the Individual Records window open by default.

Although FH does not exactly offer that at present there are plenty of alternatives, and I think some are very powerful:
I have just added how_to:remember_current_records_being_updated|> Remember Current Records being Updated to summarise these techniques.
- Sort the Updated column in the Records Window as suggested by David, so that the most recently updated records are listed first. This works on any Records Windows tab for any type of record.
- Add Individuals or other records to a Named List via the Records Window, so when FH is next opened that Named List holds shortcuts to the records you were working on. Note that this method allows any types of record to be added to the same Named List, so it could include not just Individuals but also Source or Media records.
- Display the Individual in the Focus Window by clicking the magnifying-glass Display in Focus Window icon, then right-click their box and choose Make File Root so they appear in Focus when FH is next opened. You can then similarly reset to your usual File Root.

An alternative solution (and I am sure that there are issues with it otherwise why do anything else) is to hibernate the computer instead of shutting down, But do not exit Family Historian before hibernating. Of course this method restores everything that you have open at the time of hibernation.

During the day, while I'm using the PC on and off, I usually put it into sleep mode, so that it starts up quickly with everything I was working on still open. However, when finished at the end of the day, I always shut down the machine, as this give Windows a chance to run around doing it's housekeeping (tidying up it's temp files etc). I've done this since using XP, where it did make a difference to performance after a while. Not sure if it makes a difference to W10, but it's just habit now.
