Can it be made possible please to accept or reject hints without having to open them so that, for obviously right or wrong hints they can be removed without an unnecessary extra step?

That is not possible at present, but there is Wish List Ref 549 More options for Internet Data Matches that you could Vote for and add a Comment.

If you are talking about Find My Past, the interaction is actually on the Find My Past end, so it's worth contacting them directly as a subscriber, hopefully the more people who "nudge" them the sooner they will change their interface to allow rejection on the first page.
